Sorry state of English language in Malaysia

A good friend drew my attention to this advertorial published by Tun Hussein Onn University, Malaysia on August 23 in the New Straits Times, in conjunction with its convocation (or commencement in American terms). An honorary degree award was conferred on a female royalty of Perak (a state in Malaysia) and this advertorial describing her background is written in extremely bad English. Deplorable is the word. On top of the bad, bad, bad English, the person, who is female is referred to as 'son', 'his'. And in the last two paras, it switched to 'her'...

This is one instance where I feel embarrassed, not to mention what is going on in the political scene right now.
